A bank holiday has been announced for January 1, 2024 (Monday), which means all banks will remain closed for three consecutive days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).
However, the banks will only remain closed for the public and all employees will report for their duties as per normal schedule.
This is an yearly bank holiday for the closing of accounts.
The State Bank of Pakistan has released a notification in this regard. “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on Monday, January 01, 2024, which will be observed as ‘Bank Holiday’.” the SBP wrote. “All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date.” It added.
However, it also mentioned that employees of the banks / DFIs / MFBs will attend the office as usual.
The holiday has also been announced via a notification issued by the Cabinet Division for all public and optional holidays for 2024.

It is pertinent to mention that it will be the second bank holiday in two weeks as banks remained closed on December 25th as well on the account of Quaid-e-Azam Day.
