Google has apparently stopped sending verification codes to networks other than Ufone. The problem has been reported by a few individuals online, who said they can’t seem to get verification codes from Google on their Jazz or Zong numbers; however, Ufone is working perfectly fine.
Upon entering any Jazz or Zong number while making a Google account, the user is shown a message stating, “This phone number cannot be used for verification.” However, the verification code is received easily if you enter a Ufone number.
We contacted Jazz and Zong’s customer support’ however, the agents seem to have no idea about the problem as to why their network isn’t supported by Google anymore.
There are a few reasons why Google may have stopped sending verification messages to these networks, which include:
- Technical Issues: There may be technical difficulties or limitations on the side of Jazz or Zong that are hindering the delivery of verification messages. Furthermore, it bears mentioning these networks do not support Google’s RCS chat features, which may be required for delivery of these verification codes.
- Service Provider Agreements: Google may have specific agreements or arrangements with different mobile operators and any changes in these agreements or disputes could lead to restrictions on sending verification codes to certain networks.
- Security Concerns: Google might have identified security concerns or patterns of misuse associated with certain mobile networks because of people creating too many fake or spam accounts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Another important reason could be changes compliance requirements that may influence the way Google operates in certain regions.
- Fraud Prevention: If there is an multiple incidences of fraudulent activities or attempts to compromise accounts originating from certain networks, Google may end up restricting verification codes to those networks on new account creation.
- Policy Changes: Google frequently updates its policies and it may have updated list of supported networks for account verification codes.
