Exercising your right to vote is crucial in a democracy. If you’re eligible to vote in Pakistan’s General Elections 2024, follow these steps to ensure a smooth and informed voting experience:
1. Locate Your Constituency:
- Text your National Identity Card (NIC) number to 8300.
- Receive information about your constituency, including block code, serial number, and region name.
2. Essential Documents:
- Carry your original CNIC to the polling station. Photocopies are not accepted.
3. Cellphone Restriction:
- Leave your cell phone at home or in a secure location; they are prohibited inside polling stations.
4. Voting Timeframe:
- Polling stations operate from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Arrive early to avoid long queues.
5. Verification and Queuing:
- Wait in line for your turn. The presiding officer will verify your name and electoral number. Upon verification, your name will be marked, and you’ll receive two ballots.
6. Presiding Officer’s Verification:
- Ensure the presiding officer signs and stamps the back of both ballots. Votes without these marks are invalid.
7. Ballot Types and Ink:
- You’ll receive two ballots: green for the National Assembly and white for the Provincial Parliament.
- Using special ink, the presiding officer will take your thumbprint for the electoral rolls.
8. Voting Booths:
- Proceed to the booths after verification.
- Insert the green ballot in the green-topped box and the white ballot in the white-topped box.
9. Maintain Secrecy:
- Ensure no one is present or tries to influence your vote.
10. Folding and Depositing Ballots:
- Let the ink dry completely before folding the ballots.
- Deposit the green ballot in the green box and the white ballot in the white box.
By following these steps, you can confidently cast your vote in the General Elections 2024 and contribute to the democratic process. Remember to stay informed about the candidates and their platforms to make an informed decision.
