In a tragic incident that occurred in Sargodha, a 12-year-old domestic maid named Ayesha was allegedly tortured to death by her employers in Village 84 South, a suburb of Sargodha. According to the details, Ayesha was employed by a feudal named Jawad Bhatti, who subjected her to severe physical abuse, including being struck with iron rods and sticks.
It is being reported that Bhatti’s wife was also involved in the torture of the 12-year-old minor maid.
In order to cover the murder, the suspects informed Ayesha’s family that she had been injured in an accident, but upon arrival, the family discovered she had been tortured and killed.
Jawad Bhatti and his wife fled the scene and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against them at the Laksian Police Station based on the father’s complaint. The police have sent the minor victim’s body for a post-mortem examination, and they are looking for the suspects.
The newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the incident and directed the inspector-general of police (IGP) to provide a detailed report on the matter. CM Nawaz has also made it clear that a thorough investigation must be conducted and the culprits need to be brought to justice as violence had no place in Punjab.
It is pertinent to mention that a similar incident occurred last year, in August 2023, when a 10-year-old housemaid named Fatima was tortured to death in Ranipur Town near Sindh’s Khairpur City. The minor girl worked as domestic help for a local peer (spiritual leader) named Asad Shah Jilani.
