Brazilian Travel Vlogger Demands Justice After Being Gang-Raped in India

A 28-year-old Brazilian motorbike-riding travel vlogger, Fernanda, has demanded justice after she was brutally gang-raped while touring Jharkhand state in eastern India. According to the details, Fernanda and her Spanish husband, Vincente, fell victim to a horrific assault during their world tour. The couple’s journey took a dark turn when they stopped for the night in the village of Kurmahat, located in the Dumka district of Jharkhand state, eastern India.

Fernanda bravely recounted the traumatic ordeal to reporters, demanding justice for the brutal gang rape she endured at the hands of a group of men. With visible injuries on her face, she expressed her desire to see the perpetrators face “strict punishment for the criminals.” This nightmare unfolded as the couple rested in their makeshift tent in an isolated area, intending to resume their journey to Nepal.

In a statement provided to the police, Fernanda provided details of the horrific incident. Around 7 pm, a group of eight men approached them, launching a terrifying assault. Vincente was incapacitated, while Fernanda was subjected to a series of violent rapes. The assailants not only violated her but also robbed the couple of their belongings, including cash, a Swiss knife, and other valuables.

Despite the trauma, Fernanda and Vincente managed to escape and seek help from the police, who responded promptly and arrested the suspects. Meanwhile, the medical examinations of both victims have confirmed the severity of the assault and the local authorities have extended compensation to the victims, acknowledging the gravity of the crime committed against them.

Fernanda, a seasoned traveler with a significant following on her Instagram account Fernanda.4ever, has journeyed through 63 countries, covering over 153,000 kilometers. Despite enduring such a tragic and traumatic ordeal, Fernanda found solace in the kindness and support extended to her by the people of India.

PS Kherwar, the police superintendent in Dumka district, emphasized the importance of tourists promptly informing local authorities to ensure their safety. Furthermore, the Brazilian embassy has intervened, offering assistance to the victims and collaborating with local authorities and the Spanish embassy.
