The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared its intention to hold a public gathering in Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Day, slated for March 23.
PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, speaking at the party’s protest demonstration in Islamabad, announced their plan to seek permission from the Deputy Commissioner of the capital city for the gathering.
In the event of the administration’s refusal to grant permission, Marwat stated that the PTI would take the matter to the Islamabad High Court. He emphasized the party’s constitutional right to conduct a peaceful protest.
Marwat further urged authorities to promptly release the PTI leaders and activists who were detained during the nationwide protest held on Sunday. Earlier on the same day, PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Sardar Latif Khosa were arrested as part of the party’s widespread demonstrations against alleged electoral malpractices in the February 8 general elections and perceived electoral fraud.
Across the country, PTI members and supporters mobilized for protests, with rallies occurring in various cities of Punjab, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, as well as demonstrations in Karachi, Kandhkot, and other urban centers.
A PTI spokesperson asserted that the nation would not tolerate individuals deemed “proven, most corrupt” assuming the positions of president and prime minister against the public’s will.
