Saudi Arabia has declared a four-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr starting on 8 April 2024 (Monday), for both public and private sector workers. This decision was confirmed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, granting most employees a relaxing time off from Monday until Saturday.
The Eid Al Fitr holiday starts on Monday and lasts until Thursday, April 11, but the residents will get a total of six days off as Friday and Saturday are already designated as days off in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Work will resume for both public and private sector employees on Sunday, April 14.
Eid Al Fitr signifies the end of Ramadan, which commenced on March 11 this year. During Ramadan, more than 1.8 billion Muslims globally fast from sunrise to sunset, concentrating on spiritual growth and introspection.
Celebrated by Muslims worldwide, Eid Al Fitr is a cheerful occasion for families and friends to gather, exchange gifts, enjoy meals together, and express gratitude for the blessings received during Ramadan. Special prayers called Salat Al Eid are performed in groups at mosques or outdoor spaces.
Charitable giving, known as Zakat Al Fitr, is another significant aspect of Eid Al Fitr, ensuring that the less fortunate can also partake in the festivities.
