The Karachi Police have issued a detailed traffic plan with diversions and routes for the main Youm-e-Ali procession that will be observed on April 1, 2024 (Monday), or the 21st of Ramadan.
According to the Karachi Traffic Plan, the main procession will start from Nishtar Park and go to the Hussaniyan Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar using the usual route. Furthermore, there will be a central majlis taking place at Nishtar Park to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS).
The procession will go through Empress Market in Saddar, passing by Numaish, MA Jinnah Road, and Sea Breeze. It will then go through Regal and Saddar before returning to MA Jinnah Road at the Tibet Center. While the procession is happening, the mentioned routes will be closed for traffic. However, the traffic police will be there to guide commuters towards alternate routes.
Once the procession starts at Nishtar Park, traffic from the city will be redirected from Soldier Bazaar, Coast Guards, and Anklesaria Chowk to Nishtar Road. Moreover, the traffic from Nazimabad heading to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted through Lasbela Chowk, then Nishtar Road, and then Garden to reach their destination.
Traffic from Liaquatabad going to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted through Teen Hati Chowk, Jail Road, and Martin Road to reach their destination. They can also use the Jail Chowrangi Flyover, Jamshed Road, Dadabhai Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, Sharea Quaideen, to Sharea Faisal.
Traffic from Stadium Road heading to MA Jinnah Road can use New MA Jinnah Road, Dadabhai Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, and Society Light Signal via Sharea Quaideen to Sharea Faisal.
Meanwhile, commuters from Gulberg heading to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted through Liaquatabad No. 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Shershah, and Mauripur.
Any traffic from Gurumandir Chowk won’t be allowed near the procession route. They will have to go to Bahadur Yar Jung Road instead. Traffic going from Sharea Quaideen to Naumaish Chowrangi should go past Society Office Chowrangi.
