Microsoft is considering giving its Xbox Series X a new look, possibly opting for an all-white design instead of the original black. Recent reports and leaked images from Exputer suggest that a white variant of the console, lacking a disc drive, might be in the works. While the design remains largely the same, this new version is expected to feature internal upgrades such as an improved heatsink for better cooling.
The decision to release an all-digital white Xbox Series X could be aimed at reducing production costs, mirroring Sony’s approach with the PlayStation 5, which offers both digital and disc editions.
Removing the disc drive could potentially make the console more affordable, akin to Microsoft’s Xbox Series S, which is priced lower than the Series X.
Currently, the Xbox Series X is available for $500 in the US, while the Series S and a 1TB edition of the Series S are priced at $300 and $350 respectively. It’s speculated that the digital Xbox Series X might be priced around $450.
This move aligns with a trend in the gaming industry towards digital content and downloadable games, offering consumers a more streamlined and cost-effective gaming experience. However, official confirmation from Microsoft is still awaited regarding the release and pricing details of the all-white Xbox Series X.
