The Emirates is expected to experience rains of different strengths over the next three days due to unstable weather conditions, as per the latest rain news alert for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of lightning, thunder, and possible hail in some areas, which could lead to flooding. Strong winds may also reduce visibility and cause rough seas, with wind speeds reaching up to 65 km/h, leading to dusty conditions.
These conditions are anticipated to persist from Monday afternoon until early Wednesday morning, gradually easing off by Thursday, when no rain is forecasted. However, on Wednesday, the northern and eastern parts of the country will likely experience rainfall, which is expected to diminish by evening.
In Oman, heavy rains have already caused flash floods in various locations. Social media videos depict vehicles being swept away, and emergency services are responding to reports of families and children trapped in cars and homes.
It’s essential to note that severe weather conditions have been ongoing since mid-March, prompting the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) to monitor the situation closely and implement measures to reduce risks. Starting from March 9, heavy rain and thunder affected many areas, leading to recommendations for people to stay indoors, cancellation of events, and closure of recreational areas for safety.
