Meta-owned WhatsApp has been reportedly working on a feature that would allow users to message or call unsaved contacts. While the feature is yet to be released to all users, WhatsApp has started developing an in-app dialer that will allow users to call or message people that are not saved in their contact list.
WABetaInfo, a service that tracks the encrypted messenger for new and upcoming features, spotted the in-app dialer on WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.24.9.28 and shared a screenshot as well. While the feature hasn’t been rolled out to users just yet, we can anticipate significant progress in the coming weeks or months as the company has initiated testing.
The in-app WhatsApp dialer will significantly streamline users’ experiences, eliminating the need to temporarily add contacts simply to send a single message or make a call, especially when they don’t anticipate frequent communication with them. This enhancement promises to simplify interactions and save valuable time for users.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on another feature called “Hidden Groups” that will allow users to hide groups in communities. The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.24.9.20 and allows only invited members to find and join the group.
