Ishaq Dar, who was already serving as the Foreign Minister, has been given the additional role of Deputy Prime Minister of the country. This decision was made by the Prime Minister and announced by the Cabinet Division on Sunday.
In a notification, the Cabinet Division stated, “The Prime Minister has been pleased to designate Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders.”
Ishaq Dar, aged 73, is not only a seasoned politician but also a chartered accountant. He has been a significant figure in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), closely associated with its leader, Nawaz Sharif.
Dar has served as the Finance Minister multiple times and in other key positions related to industry, investment, and commerce.
