Saudi Arabia has tightened its regulations for Hajj visas, limiting travel to specific cities and emphasizing that the visa is strictly for pilgrimage purposes. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has clarified that the visa will only permit entry for participation in the rituals and prohibit activities such as work, residency, or travel beyond designated areas.
For visitors from countries outside the Gulf Cooperation Council, except for those requiring a Hajj permit, obtaining a Hajj visa is necessary for their pilgrimage. However, the visa is valid only for the duration of the pilgrimage period and does not allow for performing Umrah or engaging in any form of employment.
To facilitate the visa application process, the ministry has introduced electronic registration through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ visa platform. Prospective pilgrims are urged to complete their registration by a specified date or until the quota is filled. It’s advisable to apply early due to potential processing delays, which may take up to three working days.
These measures aim to streamline the pilgrimage process and ensure that visas are used solely for their intended purpose, while also maintaining security and regulatory compliance.
