Dubai’s government is delving deeper into the gaming industry with the launch of the ‘Long-Term Dubai Gaming Visa’, aiming to attract industry workers to the city. This move aligns with the region’s substantial investment in gaming and esports.
Companies specializing in digital content creation are being encouraged to participate in this initiative, leveraging Dubai’s role as a central hub for the gaming industry.
Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been investing heavily in esports and gaming, organizing tournaments and planning gaming-focused cities to establish themselves in this lucrative market.
Dubai’s Crown Prince, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, introduced the new ‘Gaming Visa’ to attract 30,000 industry workers by 2033. The visa is open to developers, programmers, engineers, and other professionals aged at least 25 at the time of application, with no fixed duration mentioned.
Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, highlighted the visa’s importance in aligning with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to make Dubai a premier destination for entrepreneurs, investors, and gaming professionals. It aims to attract talent and companies specializing in gaming and content development, contributing to Dubai’s cultural and creative aspirations.
Dubai’s ‘Program for Gaming 2033’ seeks to transform the city into a gaming hub, aiming to significantly boost the nation’s GDP. However, it faces skepticism within the gaming community despite its ambitious goals.
