Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that facilities for issuing and renewing Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) will soon be available at the Union Council level throughout Pakistan. During his visit to NADRA headquarters in Islamabad on Friday, he directed the immediate finalization of this plan.
He stated that biometric machines would be installed at Union Council offices to facilitate the process. Additionally, the Interior Minister called for a plan to enhance the ID card system, aiming to make it foolproof, faster, and more efficient.
Minister Naqvi acknowledged the difficulties faced by people visiting NADRA centers and emphasized the need to develop a plan to improve their experience. He also instructed an increase in the number of NADRA centers in six major cities: Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi.
Furthermore, Minister Naqvi gave directions to take effective actions against the fake identity card mafia to eliminate this issue. During his visit to the NADRA operational room, he received a briefing on the digital monitoring system used at NADRA centers.
