The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced Syed Ali Qasim Gillani as the victorious candidate for the National Assembly seat in constituency NA-148, Multan-I, following the by-election on May 19, 2024.
The official results indicate that Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, representing the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, garnered 85,863 votes. His closest competitor, Taimur Altaf Malik of the Sunni Ittehad Council, obtained 52,354 votes.
The by-elections held on May 19, 2024, were conducted across several constituencies to fill seats that had been vacated due to various reasons, including disqualification, resignation, or death of the sitting members.
The ECP ensured that the electoral process was carried out smoothly with adequate security measures in place to maintain order and fairness. Voter turnout was observed to be moderate, reflecting the electorate’s engagement in these critical mid-term polls.
