The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday announced an increase in electricity prices by Rs. 3.33 per unit due to fuel cost adjustments for April 2024.
The updated electricity tariff will apply only for one month, with the additional amount to be collected from consumers in their June 2024 electricity bills.
However, this increase in power tariff does not affect K-Electric or lifeline consumers.
Earlier this month, Nepra also raised electricity prices by Rs. 3.76 per unit as part of the third quarterly fuel cost adjustment.
This decision will impose an additional burden of over Rs. 40 billion on electricity consumers nationwide.
The government will recover this amount over the next three months of June, July, and August 2024.
According to the details, Rs. 1.90 per unit will be charged in the June 2024 bills, while 93 paisas per unit will be collected in the bills for July and August 2024.
These adjustments reflect ongoing efforts to manage fuel cost variations and their impact on electricity pricing.
