ISLAMABAD: With 30 electric buses arrived out of the 160 planned for the capital, Islamabad takes a significant step towards modernizing its public transport system.
These buses will be operational on different routes, enhancing connectivity and providing eco-friendly transportation for residents.
Earlier today, 22 electric buses were delivered to Islamabad, accompanied by the establishment of a charging point at the Jinnah Convention Center. Initially, these 30 buses will operate on two designated routes, providing eco-friendly transportation options to residents.
Electric Buses Route Details:
First Route: NUST Orange Line Depot (G-11) to PIMS Hospital
- Stops: NUST Orange Line Depot, G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, G-8 Markaz, PIMS Hospital
- Stops Count: 13 stops in total
- Frequency: Every ten minutes
This route begins at the NUST Orange Line Depot in G-11, extends through G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, and G-8 Markaz, and concludes at PIMS Hospital.
Second Route: PIMS Hospital to Bari Imam
- Stops: PIMS Hospital, G-7, G-6, Melody, Abpara, Ataturk Road, Serena Hotel, Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan, Diplomatic Enclave, Bari Imam
- Frequency: Every ten minutes
This route starts at PIMS Hospital and travels through G-7, G-6, Melody, Abpara, Ataturk Road, Serena Hotel, Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan, and the Diplomatic Enclave, concluding at Bari Imam.
The bus service will be operational from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, ensuring convenient access throughout the day.
Subsidy for Deserving Citizens
In line with the instructions from the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a procedure will be developed to provide subsidies to deserving individuals. This includes disabled persons, students, and other eligible groups, ensuring that the new transport facilities are accessible to all segments of the population.
These electric buses represent a significant advancement in public transportation for Islamabad, promising modern and high-standard travel facilities. As the fleet expands, residents can look forward to enhanced connectivity and a reduction in the city’s carbon footprint.
