Govt Provides Relief on Solar Panels in Budget 2024-25

The government announced key discounts for the import of raw materials used in producing inverters, batteries, and solar panels.

The aim is to promote local production of solar panels, batteries, and inverters by cutting import duties on the raw materials needed to manufacture these items.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the government is offering tax concessions for importing plant machinery, related equipment, and raw materials needed for manufacturing solar panels.

The budget document outlines that these will be provided with subsidies for the import of goods and components for the production of solar panels, inverters, and batteries. This move is expected to facilitate development in the solar sector and promote the depletion of renewable energy domestically.

The government is also concentrating on reducing dependence on imports of solar panels by developing production capacity in the country. Such a policy fosters sustainable energy development but also lends significant support to the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

These are indeed steps taken by the government towards figuring out the importance of renewable energy and improving energy security for the nation.
