TikTok star Ayesha Akram has decided to drop charges in the Minar-e-Pakistan sexual assault case. Appearing in the Sessions Court in Lahore, Akram stated that she has forgiven all the accused and has no objection to their exoneration.
Among the accused are Amir Sohail, also known as Rambo, and 11 others who have petitioned for acquittal.
The court has scheduled a session on August 26 for the lawyers to present their arguments.
The incident took place on August 14, Independence Day, at Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan). Akram, along with her associates Amir Sohail and Saddam Hussain, was recording videos when a large group attacked her, tore her clothes, and threw her into the air. Despite her pleas for help, she managed to escape with great difficulty.
Following the viral spread of the incident’s video, the Larri Adda police station registered a case against more than 400 individuals, arresting several suspects for assaulting and stripping Akram.
