LAHORE: Starting August 10, Punjab’s Chief Minister will make Kissan cards available at Bank of Punjab branches. The printing process for 250,000 cards is currently underway.
Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo chaired a recent meeting where officials shared that they have completed the verification of 100,000 applicants. New applications continue to come in.
From October 15, Kissan card holders can buy fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides at discounted prices. Mr. Sahoo emphasized that the cards will be distributed on a “first come, first served” basis, with 275,000 growers already having applied.
This initiative aims to support farmers by making essential agricultural supplies more affordable and accessible.
How to Apply for Punjab Kissan Card
Eligibility Criteria and Benefits
Eligibility Criteria:
- The farmer should own 1 acre to 12.5 acres of land.
- The farmer must be registered with the land revenue center.
- The farmer should be registered in the name of the land.
- The farmer should not be a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.
- The farmer will get a loan of Rs. 150,000 for the purchase of crops per crop.
- The loan should be repaid within 6 months of the first use of the card. The farmer should return the same amount borrowed (if the loan is repaid after the specified period) and will have to pay an additional 29% of the total loan amount as interest.
Procedure:
- The farmer should visit the nearest branch of the Bank of Punjab with the following documents:
- Copy of computerized national identity card (CNIC)
- Copy of the land ownership document
- Pay a fee of Rs. 1000 after receiving the computerized national identity card (CNIC)
- After opening the bank account, the farmer will be eligible to apply for the farmer card.

For registration, farmers can send their ID card number to 8070 from their registered mobile number using the format: PKC (space) CNIC card number.
How to Get an Interest-Free Loan:
- ID Check: The government will check your ID card with NADRA records to make sure it matches.
- No Default: You should not owe money to any bank or financial institution.
- Repayment: You will pay back the loan without interest in six monthly payments. After you finish paying, you can apply for another loan for the next crop.
Steps to Apply for a Kisan Card:
- Apply Online: Go to the website and apply for a Kisan Card.
- Create a Mobile Wallet: Set up a mobile wallet or account for transactions.
- Buy Kisan Token Bundle: Purchase the Kisan Token Bundle.
- Fill out the out the Application Form: Get the form from the Tehsil Office and fill it out.
- Submit Documents: Give the required documents to the Tehsil Office.
- Pick-Up Card: Wait for a notification, then pick up your Kisan Card from the Tehsil Office.
