ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has issued a directive to all heads of Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges (for both boys and girls) in urban and rural areas, to observe Saturday, 19th October 2024 as a working day.
This decision comes as a measure to address the academic shortfall caused by the recent suspension of classes during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
The suspension of academic activities during the SCO summit led to a disruption in the regular academic schedule, prompting the authorities to ensure that the educational calendar stays on track and that the syllabus is fully covered. To compensate for the lost instructional time, the FDE has decided that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will remain open on the upcoming Saturday. This will facilitate the make-up of missed classes and allow students to continue with their academic progress as planned.
Parents and students are advised to take note of this development and prepare accordingly for the scheduled Saturday classes. The directive has been issued with the approval of the Director General, FDE.
