The state media of Iran has claimed that they captured a US drone that was flying in Iranian flight exclusion zone over the Persian Gulf.
According to Iran’s Guard’s navy chief Gen. Ali Fadavi, the Iranian forces cap the “intruding” drone that was seemingly taken off from American plane hauler. He claimed that the Scan Eagle aircraft is now in Iran’s custody.
“The U.S. drone, which was conducting a reconnaissance flight and gathering data over the Persian Gulf in the past few days, was captured by the Guard’s navy air defense unit as soon as it entered Iranian airspace,” Fadavi said. “Such drones usually take off from large warships.”
Any further details are unavailable till now.
If the capture of the drone proved true, it would be 3rd reported event relating Iran and U.S. drones in the last couple of years.
The U.S and its allies have repeatedly accused Iran for trailing nuclear-powered weapons but the Iranian Government repudiates the charge, claiming that they are continuing nuclear activities just for the peaceful ambitions like cancer treatment and power generation.
