ZHUHAI: The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has introduced a model of its latest sixth-generation fighter jet concept, called the “White Emperor B Variant,” at the Airshow China 2024. This unveiling offers a glimpse into the future of Chinese military aviation and showcases the country’s ambition to advance combat air capabilities.
The White Emperor B Variant, as presented in the exhibit, is designed for dual mission roles and represents an evolution of China’s previous stealth aircraft designs.
The model reveals significant modifications to the jet’s structure, particularly around the rear section and wings. These adjustments likely increase internal space for weapons, allowing the aircraft to carry larger and more advanced air-to-ground munitions. Enhanced stealth features and improved maneuverability appear to be key elements in the jet’s design, aiming to make it harder to detect and more effective in combat situations.
AVIC has also focused on upgrading the jet’s avionics and onboard systems, aiming to enhance human-machine interaction and streamline maintenance, which should improve its combat readiness and sortie rate. Experts speculate that the White Emperor B Variant may integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced data fusion capabilities, allowing the aircraft to process and share information more effectively. These technologies would enable better coordination with unmanned aerial systems, which is expected to be a core feature of sixth-generation fighter jets.
Though detailed technical specifications have not been disclosed, the White Emperor B Variant reflects China’s commitment to competing with other nations in next-generation air dominance.
This prototype aligns China with similar developments by the United States, which is working on the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, and Europe’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
The unveiling of the White Emperor B Variant emphasizes China’s focus on pioneering new aviation technology. While this prototype is currently only a concept, it demonstrates AVIC’s dedication to developing an aircraft capable of meeting modern combat demands and preparing for the challenges of future warfare.
