Islamabad, November 19, 2024 – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has engaged the consultancy services of National Economic Research Associates Inc. (NERA) to facilitate the “Release of IMT Spectrum for the Enhancement of Next-Generation Mobile Broadband Services in Pakistan.” The contract was officially signed on November 5, 2024.
As part of this initiative, stakeholder consultations have already begun. NERA will provide critical recommendations to the government on key aspects of the upcoming spectrum release process, including proposed policy reforms, spectrum valuation, and the auction design. These recommendations aim to ensure a transparent and efficient process that aligns with international best practices.
The entire process is expected to be finalized by April 2025, paving the way for improved broadband connectivity and fostering growth in Pakistan’s digital landscape.
