Japan has agreed to assist Pakistan in revamping Karachi Circular Railway and other development projects particularly in energy sector.
The agreement came during a meeting between Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and President of Japan International Cooperation Agency‚ (JICA)‚ Akihiko Tanaka in Washington.
The two sides also agreed to examine potential for cooperation in new projects Pakistan wants to complete on priority basis.
In his meeting with Afghan Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal‚ Ishaq Dar discussed next month’s Joint Working Group meeting‚ due to be held in Kabul.
The two ministers were confident that they would be able to make decisions at the meeting on issues like Jalalabad-Torkham Road‚ railway link up to Landi Kotal‚ CASA 1000 and Afghan Transit Trade
In another meeting‚ Finance Minister Dar and his Iranian counterpart Ali Taiebnia have discussed bilateral trade and gas pipeline project.
Meanwhile‚ addressing Commonwealth Finance Minister’s Meeting on the margins of annual World Bank-International Monetary Fund gatherings‚ Ishaq Dar stressed the need to ensure developing countries’ access to affordable energy for realization of development goals.
