At an event earlier this week, Matt Damon finally confirmed that he’ll reprise the role of Jason Bourne in 2016.
Speaking to E! News at a party for Project Greenlight, Damon stated that he’ll be reuniting with director Paul Greengrass for the project, with the film hitting theaters the following year.
According to the actor, “I just needed [Greengrass] to say yes.”
The seemingly unintended announcement confirms an earlierDeadline story that stated Universal Pictures was in talks with both Damon and Greengrass for a fifth installment to the Bourne saga. After 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, the third in the series overall, Greengrass walked away from the franchise.
