AB de Villiers Fastest ODI Century Video Highlights – SAF vs WI

The South African captain AB de Villiers hits the fastest ODI century against West Indies at the 2nd ODI between SAF vs WI played on 18 January 2015 at Johannesburg.

He smashed eight fours and 10 sixes in beating the previous ODI record of 36 balls by New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson against West Indies last year.

Chris Gayle’s 100 from 30 balls in the Indian Premier League in April 2013 is the fastest century in cricket history.

South Africa scored 439-2 as they registered their highest ever ODI score, beating the 438-9 in a win against Australia in March 2006.

The total was just four short of the all-time ODI record score of 443-9 set by Sri Lanka against Netherlands in July 2006.

[sc:text486 ]De Villiers soon set his sights on breaking another record – the most sixes in an individual ODI innings – and equalled the record Rahul Sharma set in 2013 against Australia when he smashed his 16th maximum on the penultimate ball of the penultimate over.

The wicket keeper-batsman could not score another to make the record his own, however, when he went for another huge hit off Andre Russell and was caught at deep extra cover with two balls left having scored 149 from 44 balls.
