People in Gilgit Balitstan, Chitral, Swat and Islamabad, experienced severe jolts of an earthquake which hit northern Pakistan.
The intensity of the earthquake is 6.7 on the Richter Scale. No loss of lives has been reported so far.
The MET department confirmed the epicentre of the quake to be near the Afghan-Tajikistan border and was measured to be at a depth of 200 kilometres.
Tremors were felt in various parts of the country including Islamabad, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Peshawar and Sargodah and were felt up to 30 seconds after the quake.
People from Islamabad fled their houses and came out in the open.
In Swat the tremors were so strong that people ran out of their houses.
Meanwhile, in Skardu and Gilgit it is expected that the Karakoram Highway will get blocked by land slides.
Reports are coming from India and Kashmir as well.

EARTHQUAKE hits Hindu Kush Region,Afghanistan with a moment magnitude of Magnitude 5.7 at a depth of 209 km
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has updated information on its website as regards the quake that hit Afghanistan.
As per the USGS, the 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck at 3:35 pm. It was epicentred 34 kilometres west-southwest of Ashkasham in Afghanistan, or 287 kilometres northeast of capital Kabul at a depth of 223.1 kilometres.
