KARACHI: The holy month of Ramazan will begin in Pakistan from Thursday, Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced today.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee led by Mufti Munibur Rehman met today for sighting of the Ramazan moon.
The meeting was held at the main office of the Meteorological Department where evidence of moon sighting was collected.
The forecasts for the weather today was partly cloudy in most parts of the country.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee earlier today also called on citizens to spot the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars and to contact them on the following numbers and record their testimonies.
In Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the crescent was sighted on Tuesday. The month of Ramazan will begin on Thursday, May 17 in the two countries.
Earlier the Australian National Imams Council declared that the holy month of Ramazan will begin on Thursday.
