RAHIM YAR KHAN: Tezgam train was on its way from Karachi to Rawalpindi when an LPG cylinder carried by a passenger exploded in the morning hours killing 73 and injuring passengers.
According to sources, A fire broke out around 6:30 AM in the morning in Tezgam near Tanwari Station Tehsil Liaquat pur district.
32 Passengers were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Liaquat pur out of which 16 were dead.
The identities of the deceased were not known. An official said at 16 bodies were charred beyond recognition.
The Government revised the total numbers of death from 16 to 65, However to the local sources the number of dead reaches 73 by now.
The Fire tenders and rescue teams were deployed to extinguish the fire. Pakistan Army contingents were also dispatched to the area to part in the rescue and relief operation.

Pak Army Aviation Helicopter airlifted the injured from the site of the incident to the hospital.
Three Coaches have been separated from the train – Pakistan Railways Official said.
The train schedule will not be affected by the unfortunate incident. – Aijaz Ahmed, CEO Pakistan Railways.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said “Deeply Saddened by the terrible tragedy of the Tezgam train. My condolences go to the victims’ families & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. I have ordered an immediate inquiry to be completed on an urgent basis.”
