ISLAMABAD: Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) workers have successfully blocked G.T Road (N5 Highway) at 26 Number Chungi Stop which has caused severe traffic congestion for commuter going to or coming from Taxila, Peshawar.
UPDATE: Kashmir Highway and Motorway is now open for all type of traffic, status updated by National Highway and Motorway Police
Intercity and intra-city traffic between different sectors and blocks of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are jammed too.
JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazul Rehman concluded a 17-day long sit-in at H-9 Peshawar Morr yesterday with the initiation call for Plan B.
According to Plan B, Moulana instructed his workers to follow the regional ameers’ guidelines and block all major cities, towns, highways and even airports if need be.
Following the commands of their Cheif workers have blocked major highway connecting many metropolitans.
According to eyewitnesses, G.T. Road is blocked by JUI-F at Kashmir Highway over-head connecting bridge at 26 number Chungi. Islamabad Traffic Police is currently diverting the outgoing traffic to take a long U-turn via Kashmir Highway – Motorway connecting road to exit the twin cities.
It must be noted that the incoming traffic has no diversion route and current stalled.
Advisory: Avoid traveling via GT road/Motorway unless absolutely necessary. Consult Google Maps and NH&MP helpline 130 before making any travel plans.
UPDATE: Islamabad Traffic – JUI(F) Azadi March Plan-B Execution :
Due to ongoing protests by JUI-F activists at Chungi No 26 road is closed from both sides.
Alternate Routes:
- From Peshawar to Rawalpindi, the commuters will take left turn from Chungi Number 26 and turn towards Kashmir Highway.
- The commuters going from Rawalpindi to Peshawar will turn left to the Coca Cola Factory then take the U-turn and can go to Motorway. Plan travel accordingly.
