ISLAMABAD: Weekly Bazaars being operated by the Metropolitan Corporation will follow the price lists of Islamabad District Magistrate. This administrative action will not only help provide different edible items on affordable rates but would also end confusion, replication and duplication of prices in the city.
This was decided after mutual consultation of Chief Officer MCI and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad that in future fruits, vegetables and other edible items would be sold in the weekly bazaar on the rates specified by the District magistrate. However, weekly bazaar administration will ensure implementation of the rates and availability of edible items in the weekly bazaars organized by the MCI. Implementation of unitary rates across the city will ultimately facilitate the residents.
Islamabad Capital Administration has taken several steps to ensure availability of edible items at affordable rates in the city. In this connection, instructions have been issued that artificial price hike would not be tolerated. Assistant Commissioners have been directed to regularly monitor and regulate the bidding process and set the retail rates of fruits vegetables accordingly.
Moreover, magistrates have been also directed to conduct visits of different markets of the city and take action against the profiteers.
