Elon Musk's SpaceX resupply flight sending weed to ISS in 2020

We all remember Elon Must smoking weed live on a podcast last year. Well this time an agri-biotech company by the name of Front Range Biosciences is planning on sending weed (marijuana) to the International Space Station in Elon Musk’s SpaceX resupply mission in March of 2020.

The argiculture biotech firm is collaborating with a tech company Space Cells and a University of Colorado’s research division BioServe. They plan on sending coffee and weed to space in the next supply flight to the International Space Station in SpaceX cargo flight CRS-20 that is going to launch in March of next year.

These cultures being sent will be monitored by BioServe remotely from the University of Colorado while they remain in an incubator on the ISS (International Space Station).

Co-Founder and CEO of Front Range Biosciences, Dr. Jonathan Vaught has made a statement saying:

This is one of the first times anyone is researching this effects of mirogravity and spaceflight on hemp and coffee cultures. This is an opportunity to see whether those mutations hold up once brought back to earth and if there are new commercial applications,

The sole purpose of this study is to check the affects of space on plants and whether radiation in space can affect genes of these plants.

After spending 30 days on the ISS, the cultures are to be brought back to earth so that researchers can study how DNA has been affected by changes in the gravity and radiation in space.

We all remember last year when Musk was smoking marijuana on a live podcast called the The Joe Rogan Experience. NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine however called in inappropriate behavior and said that it won’t happen again after his talk with Musk about the issue.
