Official Facebook account hacked on Twitter and Instagram

Twitter confirmed Friday that the official account for the social media giant Facebook along with its official Messenger account on the Twitter platform were hacked.

Around the same time, Facebook’s official account on its own photo sharing platform Instagram was compromised as well.

A Twitter spokesperson said that both the official accounts of the social media giant were hacked through third party platforms and photos of the hacker group were posted.

The hackers posted “Hi, we are O u r M i n e. Well, even Facebook is hackable but at least their security better than Twitter,”

Twitter has had many security incidences in the past like accounts of NFL teams getting hacked as well asthe official account of its own Chief Executive Jack Dorsey also getting hacked back in August and the hackers made some tweets using inappropriate language from his account.

Not to forget that Mariah Carey’s official Twitter account was also hacked on New Years Eve.

A Twitter spokesperson said:

As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised accounts and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them,

A Facebook spokesperson made a statement about the incident saying:

Some of our corporate social accounts were briefly hacked but we have secured and restored access.
