ISPR: Successful flight test of cruise missile Ra'ad-II conducted

Pakistan has successfully conducted the flight test of Ra’ad-II, an air launched cruise missile, expanding the country’s deterence capabilities according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the press release by the media wing of the military, the Ra’ad-II missile has a range of 600km and “significantly enhances” the military air-delivered strategic standoff capability on land and at sea.

The statement said that the weapons system has state of the art navigation and guidance system enabling high precision of engaged targets.

Director General (DG) Strategic Plans Divison (SPD) Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaki Manj, Chairman NESCOM Dr Nabeel Hayat Malik and other senior officers from SPD, strategic forces and organizations were present at the missile flight test.

Lt Gen Manj praised the commitment and hard work of the scientists, engineers and everyone involved in making this weapon system possible saying that it was a “major step towards complimenting Pakistan’s deterrence capability”.

The scientists and engineers were also congratulated by the president, prime minister and chairman joint chiefs of staff committee and services chiefs on the successful test of the air launched missile.

This news comes one month after the successful launch of the surface to surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi, capable of devliering multiple types of warheads at a range of up to 290kms according to a report by ISPR last month.
