The Sindh Health Department is now proposing a ban on all public events like the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020) in Karachi following the emergence of nine new cases of the novel coronavirus in Karachi bringing the total to 16 just hours after the fifth confirmed case.
A recommendation is also being sent to the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to keep schools closed for a longer period.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the health department which was attended by representatives of the health ministry, district health officers (DHOs) and representatives of major hospitals in Sindh.

A recommendation was also put forward to set up health desks at airports and even hospitals throughout the province called front line desks which will provide updated information about the status of coronavirus.
An advisory will be issued today for a 14 days self quarantine for those coming to Karachi from abroad.
On the matter of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020) a spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said:
PCB members also sit on meetings related to the health situation in the province,
According to the spokesperson, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will fully comply with the advisories issued by the government of health matters.
