Government of Punjab is moving towards a lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak and has asked for the Pakistan Army to aid in the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The letter sent to the Federal Ministry of Interior with subject “Requisition of Army Troops Under Article 245 of the Constitution: Corona Pandemic” stated “I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to state that there has been an increase in the number of corona pandemic in the province of Punjab. This situation warrants taking all precautionary measures to face multifaceted challenges. Therefore keeping in view the current / future situation, appropriate number of Pakistan Army troops may be requisitioned under Article 245 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Act in aid of civil power).”
CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah also stated that government will be imposing a lockdown in the province starting midnight to try and curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak sweeping the nation.

In Punjab. so far CM Usman Buzdar said that all public places in the province including malls, shopping centers, markets, restaurants and parks will remain closed till 9:00 am Tuesday.
However, pharmacies, grocery stores, vegetable markets will remain open. Restaurants are also allowed to carry out take away and delivery orders for now.
Last night however, another notification was issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Office in Lahore which was directed towards Assistant Commissioners of the City Sub Divison, Cantt Sub Division, Model Town Sub Divison, Raiwind and Shalimar Sub Division respectively stating that there is a possibility of a lockdown.
