Star Wars actor Andrew Jack died due to coronavirus at the age of 76 at a hospital in Surrey on Tuesday, his agent Jill McCullough said in a statement on Wednesday.
Andrew Jack was known for his portrayal of General Ematt in Star Wars Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Episode VII – The Force Awakens. He also worked as a dialect coach for the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) franchise.

Jack’s agent Jill McCullough said in his statement:
Andrew lived on one of the oldest working houseboats on the Thames, he was fiercely independent but madly in love with his wife, also a dialect coach,
Jack’s wife Gabrielle Rogers also posted about her husband’s death on Twitter saying:
Andrew Jack was diagnosed with coronavirus 2 days ago. He was in no pain, and he slipped away peacefully knowing that his family were all ‘with’ him.
Unfortunately Jack’s wife couldn’t be with him as she is currently under isolation in Queensland, Australia. since all passengers travelling to the country must self-isolate in hotels for two weeks as precautionary measure to curb spread of coronavirus.
The coronavirus pandemic has so far infected over 882,000 people globally and taken over 44,000 lives with the majority of 30,000 deaths just in Europe alone.
