Federal Cabinet Reshuffle by PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: In view of the latest sugar price hike in the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan has done a Federal Cabinet Reshuffle where Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar has been removed from his position along with Adviser on Establishment Shahzad Arbab.

Others who have been removed from their position include Secretary Ministry of National Food Security and Research Hashim Popalzai and Chairman of Task Force on Agriculture Jahangir Khan Tareen.

The Chairman of Sugar Advisory Board Abdul Razak Dawood has also been removed from his position however, he will still serve Adviser for Trade and Investment to the Prime Minister.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddique tendered his resignation which was accepted by PM Imran Khan however, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar also tendered his resignation that was rejected by the Prime Minister stating that it was not correct and he has been assigned another position.

The Federal Cabinet Reshuffle includes:

• Syed Fakhar Imam has been made the Federal Minister for National Food Security
• Hammad Azhar has been made the Federal Minister for Industries
• Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has been made the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs
• Azam Swati has been made the Federal Minister for Narcotics Control
• Babar Awan has been made the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Parliamentary Affairs
• Amin ul Haq has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Telecom
• Omar Hameed has been transferred and appointed as the Secretary Ministry of National Food Security

On the provincial level Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry also tendered his resignation while the Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Naseem Sadiq has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman replaced

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has also been replaced with Nausheen Javaid Amjad effective immediately.
