Gen Bajwa orders supplies of emergency medical equipment for Quetta

Supplies of emergency medical equipment for Quetta has been dispatched on the orders of General Qamar Javed Bajwa to help doctors fight the COVID-19 pandemic and treat patients.

This was announced by DG ISPR Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar on Twitter where he said that medical equipment carrying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) have been sent to the provincial capital.

The COAS in his statement even commended doctors for their efforts and bravery in the fight against the coronavirus.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said:

Doctors & paramedics are the frontline soldiers in this war. Most advanced nations / govts are finding it extremely difficult to fight this pandemic. Pakistan Govt is striving hard to acquire & supply the required resources. In this hour of distress we must remain patient and steadfast.

This step taken by COAS came a day after the protest of doctors in Quetta over unavailablity of PPEs where matter got out of hand and there was a clash of protesters with the police and several doctors were even arrested.

According to police, 30 doctors were arrested for violation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure which has been imposed by Balochistan Government however, Yound Doctors Association (YDA) says over 100 doctors were arrested and even baton charged by the police.

Not long after the incident, many people took to Twitter to express their disappointment and criticize the Balochistan police for their handling of the situation.
