The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan have surged to 4,009 with over 200 new cases and the number of deaths have reached 56 with another doctor becoming a victim of the virus.
Dr Abdul Qadir Soomro was a physician and also the administrator of a charity hospital run by Al-Khidmat Foundation in Karachi where he established a special ward for coronavirus patients. Even President Arif Alvi expressed grief over the demise of Dr Soomro and lauded his contributions towards the fight against the virus. Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah took to Twitter express his sorrow over the loss.
The Health and Finance Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also reported one death this morning bringing the province total to 17 and the total number of COVID-19 cases to 500.
Balochistan also reported its second COVID-19 death while the provincial total has reached 211. Urgent medical equipment including PPEs were sent to hospitals in Quetta today on the orders of General Qamar Bajwa after yesterday’s protest by doctors.

Punjab coronavirus cases have also reached 2,004 which is the highest in the country and making up almost half of the total cases in Pakistan.
Senator Murtaza Wahab has also expressed his concerns over the rising coronavirus patients in Pakistan and telling citizens to wake up before its too late.

Global Update
The number of coronavirus patients globally continue to rise with the number surging past 1,414,000 and the death toll crossing 81,000 with United States having the most number of cases in the world.
United States number of COVID-19 cases have surged past 388,000 which is more than 25% of the global total for coronavirus cases and the number of deaths have have reached 12,393 with over 1,500 in a single day which is the highest any country has seen.
Italy still has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths with 17,127 and total number of cases over 135,586 however, there has been a decline in both new cases and the daily fatalities.
Spain though having the second highest death toll at 13,897 and also the second highest number of cases over 140,500 is also showing signs of recovery with fewer daily cases as well as fatalities.
France has seen a rise in new cases with over 1100 being reported in a single day while the total has reached over 109,000 while the number of deaths is 10,328 with over 1400 fatalities being reported in just a day.
