Ramzan 2020 moon to be sighted on 24 April: Met Department

Ramzan 2020 moon is likely to be spotted on 24 April according to the Meteorological Department of Pakistan who also said that the moon would be impossible to see as it would be on a 5 degrees angle on the horizon but would be visible the next day.

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will take place on 23 April for confirmation of Ramadan 2020 (Ramzan) moon sighting and a press release has been forwarded by the Meteorological office to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Director of the Research and Reference Division.

This year’s Ramzan (Ramadan) will be very different because of the current situation due to the coronavirus lockdown as there is currently no information on how many aspects of the month will be dealt with such as Taraweeh prayers in case the lockdown is extended as the situation only seems to be getting worse with more and more cases mounting in Pakistan.

Currently government orders state that not more than five people can pray in a mosque and that includes the Imam and other staff to try and curb the spread of the coronavirus. However, people are violating these orders and this Friday many people attacked a female SHO in Karachi who was trying to stop them from gathering in the mosque for the Friday prayer.
