The hyper immunoglobulin (H-IVIG) method to develop this possible coronavirus cure is different from plasma therapy and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This involves purifying antibodies from blood samples using ultrafiltration techniques which removes all unwanted materials unlike plasma treatments which carries along components like plasma protiens, bacterial and viral pathogens.
Similar methods were used during the times of some previous epidemics like SARS, MERS, EBOLA and also used for diseases like rabies, tetanus, Influenza and hepatitis.
