The social media photo and video sharing platform Instagram has finally rolled out direct messages feature for its desktop website along with Instagram Live feature support, two features that were only available on the mobile app.
Instagram has been working on direct messages for web for quite some time now and testing has been going on since January and the Facebook owned company finally announced the the feature on its official Twitter handle.
The Instagram direct messaging feature for desktop is similar to the mobile version with the same icon on the top corner taking you to the message option.

Apart from this new feature, Instagram Live is now also available for desktop meaning users can view streams on the web something which was not available before.
Unlike the mobile version where comments are shown over the live stream, the web version of the live stream shows comments on the side similar to Facebook where comments are separate on the web based version and over the stream while using the app.
