Coronavirus cases in Pakistan surge to 7925 with 149 deaths

The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan have surged to 7,925 with over 500 cases being reported on Saturday along with 11 fatalities bringing the country’s death toll to 149.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported five more fatalities bring the total death toll of the province to 50 while the total number of coronavirus cases in the province surged to 1,077.

Senator Murtaza Wahab reported one death in his daily updates on Twitter regarding the coronavirus numbers in Sindh and the total death toll of the province is now 48.

A 72 year old doctor also passed away from coronavirus in Islamabad according to the Deputy Commissioner who reported the loss on his official twitter handle. This is the second fatality in Islamabad due to COVID-19.

Another four deaths were reported in Punjab by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is his end of day update on Twitter regarding the coronavirus numbers. The death toll in the province is now 41.

Global Update

The total number of coronavirus cases in the world have surged past 2.3 million while the death toll has surpassed 159,000 and the United States has the most number of cases and the highest death toll.

The United States alone has over 728,000 coronavirus cases which make up over 30 percent of the global cases along with 38,244 deaths that account for almost 25 percent of the global death toll.

Spain has the second highest number of coronavirus cases over 191,500 which are however no way near that of the United States. The number of fatalities in Spain is the second highest with 20,043 however the country has seen a significant improvement in the daily numbers.

Italy has over 176,000 coronavirus cases that is the third highest number in the world and the country has the second highest death toll of 23,227. However, Italy has seen a significant improvement in the number of daily cases and deaths.

France has recently seen a huge surge in the coronavirus cases as well as deaths. The number of cases in the country are now over 151,500 while the death toll is 19,323. There has been a slight improvement in the daily numbers.

There has also been a surge in the cases being reported by UK including the number of daily fatalities. The country has reported 888 deaths today bringing the death toll to 15,464 while the number of cases are over 114,000.
