Twitter employees can work from home permanently

The social media platform Twitter has allowed its employees to work from home as long as they see fit. This decision is particularly being taken because of the changing work culture caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The news came after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey emailed staff on Tuesday telling them that they will be allowed to continue working from home even after the coronaviru pandemic passess. However, tasks that require physical staff such as maintaining servers will require employees to come in.

The social media giant was one of the first companies to implement the work from home policy in early March along with other tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Facebook and even Amazon.

According to Buzzfeed, a Twitter spokesperson said:

We’ve been very thoughtful in how we’ve approached this from the time we were one of the first companies to move to a work-from-home model,
We’ll continue to be, and we’ll continue to put the safety of our people and communities first.

Twitter offices will not open before September according to Jack Dorsey and there would be very limited business travels until then including all in-person company events being cancelled for 2020.

Other tech giants like Facebook and Google have also taken this approach to extending the work from home policy till next year with very few exceptions where tasks need to be performed at the office.
