PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has extended the province wide state of emergency till 10 August 2020 in view of the spike in coronavirus cases in the country.
According to a notification issued by the KP Health Department, the decision was taken on the “advice of the Director General, Health Services, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two eminent epidemiologists and with the approval of the Chief Minster of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
Since the coronavirus pandemic is spreading rapidly in Pakistan and cases are mounting everyday including several deaths, the decision has been taken by the KP Government to extend the state of emergency in the province.

The notification states:
The emergency shall be for a period of ninety days commencing from 12th of May, 2020 and shall continue till the 10th of August, 2020, in order to continue with the earlier arrangement with regards to the control of COVID-19 pandemic.
