Legendary Pakistani TV host and actor Tariq Aziz passed away in Lahore on Wednesday according to sources. Aziz was 84 years old and admitted to a private hospital last night after he wasn’t feeling well. The exact cause of his death is still unknown.
Tariq Aziz is known for his television show Neelam Ghar that later became known as the Tariq Aziz Show and aired on PTV for almost 40 years after starting in 1974.
Although the show wasn’t where Aziz started his career. He first started in the 1960s working on Radio Pakistan later going on to become of the greatest TV host on Pakistani television.
Tariq Aziz also performed in several films which included Insaniyat, released in 1967 and also his debut film. Other projects he worked on included Salgirah, Qasam Us Waqt Ki, Katari and Har Gaya Insan.
Aziz was also given the Pride of Performance Award in 1992 by the Government for this outstanding work in the entertainment industry. The TV host and actor was also a politician who was a member of the National Assembly from 1997 to 1999.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan along with other politicians and celebrities took to Twitter to offer their condolences and express their sadness over the news of the TV anchor’s passing.
