ISLAMBAD: The District Administration of Islamabad have taken notice of a serious shortage of the steroid drug Dexamethasone which has recently proven effective against the coronavirus helping save lives in a study and trials conducted by UK scientists.
According to the notification all pharmacies have been instructed to ensure a stable supply or Dexamethasone without any surge or increase in the price of the drug but has also instructed to make sure that the drug is only sold to people having a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

Pharmacies are also required to keep a copy of prescription for every sale that is made for audit by Assistant Commissioners.
If this medicine Dexamethasone is found being sold at higher prices or if anyone is found hoarding the medicine and creating artificial shortage will be dealt with strictly in according with the law and the Hoarding Act 1977, the Drug Act 1976 and the Schedule II of the DRAP Act 2012.
Assistant Commissioners are directed to make inspections and conduct audit of all the pharmacies in their respective areas to ensure an uninterrupted supply medicine Dexamethasone.
